Solutions at the End-User Level:
1. Protection for small loads (less than 5kV):
- This usually includes protection for equipment controls or small, individual machines.
2. Protection for individual equipment or group of equipment up to about 300 kVA:
- Protection of critical equipment by using power conditioning technology.
- This technique is very economical method as every equipment does not requires protection.
3. Protection for large groups of loads or whole facilities at the low-voltage level:
- These includes protection of large portion of the facility.
4. Protection at the medium-voltage level or on the supply system:
- If the whole facility needs protection or improved power quality, solutions at the medium voltage level can be considered.
Voltage Regulation:
- Voltage regulation is the measure of change in voltage magnitude between sending end and receiving end of a component.
- It is commonly used in power engineering to describe the percentage voltage difference between no-load and full load voltage distribution line, transmission line and transformer.
- A voltage regulator is a component of the power supply unit that ensures a steady constant voltage supply through all operational conditions.
- It regulates voltage during power fluctuations and variations in loads.
Devices Used for Voltage Regulation are:
1. Isolation Transformer
2. Ferro-resonant Transformer
3. Magnetic Synthesizers
4. Electronic tap switching regulator
5. Motor-generator sets
6. Static VAR compensator
7. Line drop Compensator
